It’s already the middle of May – Memorial Day is this weekend! I can’t believe it. This year has flown by. It’s busy season for The Jay Marks Team, but with school ending in the next couple of weeks, we know that some of you are in need of fun activities to enjoy with the family! Have no fear – Flower Mound is supplying a wealth of awesome and fun activities for everyone of all ages to enjoy this summer.
Here’s a list of some of the great activities you and your family should take advantage of!
Flower Mound Concert Series
Kari and her fiance actually went to the Journey cover band concert a couple of weeks ago and had an awesome time. They said the weather was perfect for it, Heritage Park is a great location and there were TONS of people of all ages there enjoying the show. So, take a blanket, some chairs and a picnic dinner over to Heritage Park Saturday, May 30 to enjoy the last concert in the series! Tenacity’s putting on the show that week – they’re a local band putting a fresh spin on some familiar music. You’ll hear some songs from the most recent Billboard Top 40 chart as well as some creative remixes and mashups – in other words, come prepared to dance!

Movie & Splash
The Community Activity Center (CAC) is hosting two Movie & Splash events this summer in their indoor pool. So, bring your family, friends and floats to the CAC to enjoy movies beginning at 7:30pm. The activity is free with paid admission to the CAC and children 10 and older are welcome to attend without parental supervision. As of right now, this is what they have scheduled to show:
Friday, June 20: Despicable Me 2
Friday, July 11: The Little Rascals
Outdoor Waterpark Splashtaculars
The Parks & Recreation staff are hosting a few “Splashtaculars” at the CAC Outdoor Waterpark on Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day this summer. There will be activities and games from 1:00-5:00pm on each of those days to encourage participation from people of all ages. And the water park itself is tons of fun and is the perfect way to spend an afternoon! The activities will be free with paid admission to the CAC.
Independence Day Festivities
This year’s festivities are being sponsored by Market Street and include a plethora of activities to keep you and your family occupied throughout the day.
First there will be a Children’s Parade beginning at 10:00am at Timber Creek Elementary. Decorated bikes, trikes, wagons and strollers will parade the short route to the LISD School Administration Building where there will be free hot dogs, drinks, children’s activities and awesome entertainment.
Later that evening there will be activities, live music and fireworks at Bakersfield Park beginning at 5:00pm. Activities include concessions, live music featuring KANSAS, a Kid’s Zone and auto show. The best part? It’s all FREE!

We can’t forget about the teens around here, so the town is hosting a “Teenpalooza” on Friday, July 18 from 7:00-10:00pm at the CAC’s Outdoor Waterpark for your kids age 13-17 years old. They’ll enjoy live music from The School of Rock, free food, games and prizes. This is a great opportunity for teens to come together and make friends in a supervised environment. And is also a great opportunity for parents to relax for the evening. The cost is $7 for CAC Members and $8 for non-CAC members. And when you register for the event, participants will be entered into a raffle for a MEGA prize.
