Community Update: Inaugural Christmas Parade of Lights & Tree Lighting Ceremony

It may surprise some of you to know that I would prefer to celebrate Halloween a million times over before I get all fun and festive for Christmas. But thank goodness for Kari and Traci around our office who are willing to decorate with some Christmas cheer!

I really do love Christmas though and this year, the Town of Flower Mound is inviting residents to take part in the 2014 night-time Christmas Parade of Lights and tree-lighting ceremony on Saturday, December 6 at 6:00pm. This is a new event that marks the 25th anniversary of the Town’s Christmas Parade.

float-full-2The parade route will go from Shadow Ridge Middle School to Gerault Park, with lighted floats and festive characters. At the parade’s finale, the tree-lighting ceremony will take place with choir performances, pictures with Santa Claus, carriage rides, a snow hill, petting zoo, kids’ activities and MORE! And of course, there will be food. Food trucks to be exact.

If you’re interested in entering a float into this year’s parade, just click here where you can download the application form to be submitted by 5:00pm on Friday, November 21. There’s no entry fee to enter a float – they just ask for canned food to benefit the CCA canned food drive.

There will be non-cash awards presented to the top entry and runner-up within each category, so if you’ve got a competitive Christmas spirit, this is the event for you!
