The Jay Marks Team would like to send you our warmest Independence Day wishes (even though we know you’ll be warm enough just spending all day by the pool and barbecuing)!
We hope you get to spend this weekend with some of those you love the most and that you all take a moment to recognize how blessed we are to live in the nation that we do!
But seeing as it is Foodie Friday, we didn’t want to leave you Foodies hanging…
I know most of you are probably going to grill hamburgers, hot dogs, etc., but did you know that there are lots of other things you can throw on the grill to enhance your Independence Day meal? We found this list on the Internet with some ideas to help you spice things up a little this year…
Grilled Peaches & Cinnamon: Cut some peaches in half, sprinkle them with some brown sugar and cinnamon and throw them on the grill for a delicious sweet treat! Top them off with some vanilla ice cream and it’s pure magic!
Grilled Caesar Salad: Every Independence Day Barbecue needs a good salad, so why not grill it this year? Char some romaine lettuce on the grill to add a unique smoky flavor to a Caesar Salad!
Grilled Watermelon: Grilling watermelon just brings out all the juices and actually changes the texture! Sprinkle some oil, salt and pepper on each slice and you get the perfect combination of sweet and salty.
Grilled Pineapple: Just like with grilled watermelon, grilling pineapple brings out the flavor like nothing else. Marinade it in a little honey and cinnamon before you throw it on the grill and then top it with some ice cream. Perfect way to end a meal!
Grilled Artichokes: Boil them until they’re tender and then marinate them before sticking them on the grill for a perfect smoky flavor. If it helps, you can do all the prep work the night before, so you just have to grill them on Saturday!
Grilled Pound Cake: One word. Yum.
Grilled Pizza: If your kids don’t like hamburgers or hot dogs (gasp!), why not try grilling pizza this weekend? It’s the perfect solution if you like your crust a little crispy with a smoky flavor.
Really, the list is endless as to what you can grill this weekend, but we thought these would be some fun ideas to get you started! Let us know how you switched your Independence Day Barbecue this weekend… or just invite me over so I can try it for myself. That’ll work too!
Have a blessed weekend, Foodies!
