Remembering the Real Purpose of Memorial Day

Last week I had the opportunity to spend the whole week at Fort Bragg in North Carolina for my 30th Army Reunion. It was an amazing week full of catching up with old friends and humbling experiences. Like the experience we had visiting the memorial on Friday where the lawn was covered with American flags honoring those who had died in their service to our country.

So, this Memorial Day – may we remember that among all the barbecue, and pool parties and the day off work – today is truly about remembering the fallen. Let us all take some time to think about the men and women who have lost their lives defending the very fabric of society that we take for granted each day.

Keep them and their families in your prayers and ask God to continually watch over them.
