Jay Around Town: Art Classes & Parties for All Ages at the Art House

One of the things I love most about being a small business owner is getting to know and become great friends with other small business owners in our area. One of those owners who I just love and admire is Anita Robbins who owns and operates the Art House locations in Flower Mound, Southlake, and their upcoming location in Highland Village (which opens on October 3rd).

Anita has owned Art House since 2010 and has been diligently working, along with her amazing teaching staff, to spread a love for art through the kids and adults of our community.

If you didn’t know, the Art House offers classes for children and adults alike. And no matter where you’re at in your skill level, they’ll work with you to develop the disciplines necessary to let your creativity flourish. And you’ll have fun while you’re doing it!

Teachers at the Art House will also work with aspiring artists in preparing their portfolios for college applications. To see them develop their skills and build their self-worth and confidence is one of the most rewarding aspects of the job according to Anita.

During the summers, Art House offers several 3-hour art camps for kids ages 6-16 where they work on specific art projects across all kind of mediums.

And during the school year, they have curriculum for kids to continue their training, as well as classes during the day for adults to fine-tune their skills as well. We learned that later this year they’re taking on a Norman Rockwell project – that’s impressive!

Another cool activity to keep in mind for the kiddos this Fall is the “Paint a Pumpkin” event which will take place on October 10th at both the Flower Mound and Highland Village locations. Kids can bring in their own pumpkins and will have the chance to paint them however they’d like.

If you’re interested in a private party, the Art House does host private events for 8-12 where you can come in and work on a specific project.

Or they even have a mobile Art House so that they can bring the party to you! This is the perfect solution for corporations or businesses who want to have larger team-building activities. They’ve also taken the mobile Art House to senior centers and community activity centers. The parties last from 1-3 hours and the cost includes all materials, clean-up, etc. If you’re interested in talking to them about pricing out a party for you and your friends or co-workers, give them a call and they can go over that with you.

As I mentioned before, Art House is continuing to grow as their newest location opens on October 3rd in Highland Village (in the Best Buy shopping center). Because this location is a little larger than the other two, it will actually also have its own fine art gallery and they will also host 12-hour weekend workshops with well-known artists.

If you or your kids have always wanted to develop your artistic skills – don’t hesitate to sign up for classes at the Art House! Seriously – no matter what level you’re at, they can work with you. All you need to have is a passion for it.

*The Art House locations are:

Highland Village: 6100 Long Prairie Rd #800
