Foodie Friday: Local Restaurants Featured in DFW’s 20th Annual Restaurant Week

It’s one of my favorite weeks of the year! Monday marks the official beginning of DFW’s 20th Annual Restaurant Week. The 3-week event benefits the North Texas Food Bank and Lena Pope Home. Last year they were able to raise $711,000!

You can make all of your reservations on OpenTable. And you can make reservations at as many restaurants as you think you can visit during those 3 weeks! Just be sure to check which dates each restaurant is participating.

You’ll enjoy special two- or three-course, prixe-fixe meals at each restaurant and the cost is $20 for lunch and $39 or $49 for dinner.

And the most exciting part is that we have several Foodie Friday restaurants who are participating in this year’s event! Check out the local restaurants who are participating below.

Bistecca – An Italian Steakhouse

You can join Chef Morris Salerno for a truly special dining experience. They’ll be serving an option Calloway course for an additional $5, two salmon dish options for the first course, either Black Drum or a Akaushi beef brisket for the main entree, and either strawberry pie or chocolate mousse for dessert.

Bistecca is participating during the Preview Weekend (this weekend!) as well as all next week (August 7-13). The cost for the three-course dinner is $49 or $69 with their recommended wines. Make your reservations here!

Carvao Prime Brazilian Steakhouse

Or you can check out Carvao in Lakeside DFW. They have a fantastic salad bar with 60+ items to choose from. But the best part is enjoying their 16 cuts of meat served tableside.

Carvao also has a fantastic wine list and bar offering drinks for before, during and after your meal.

They are offering a $49 dinner and are participating from August 7-13. Make your reservations here!

Prime Farm to Table

Flower Mound’s Contemporary American restaurant, Prime Farm to Table, offers customers truly unique dining experiences. Chef Chris Flahaven is constantly coming up with special dishes to serve his customers to allow them to try things they never have before.

Prime Farm to Table is serving dishes on their prixe-fixe menu like Chilled Melon Soup, Grilled Spanish Octopus, Ricotta Gnocchi, 24 Hour Short Ribs, Olive Oil Cake and Chocolate Terrine.

They are participating from August 7-20 and their 3-course meal will be $39 per person or $55 per person with paired wines. Make your reservation here!

Yellow Rose Steak and Chop House

You can also check out another one of Flower Mound’s steak houses, Yellow Rose Steak and Chop House, in Parker Square.

Yellow Rose will be serving dishes like a Citrus Summer Salad, Char Grilled Salmon and Shrimp, 10 oz Prime Rib, and Bread Pudding.

They are participating all three weeks of the event (August 7-26) and are offering both special lunch and dinner menus. Make your reservation here!

Foodie Friday: Enjoying Our Sweetheart Dinner at Bistecca

Some of you may have seen our article in the Cross Timbers Gazette publishing information about all the local restaurants who were offering special Valentine’s Day menus this week.

We want you to know that we eat what we preach here at Jay Marks Real Estate and Foodie Friday! My wife and I enjoyed a lovely Sweetheart Dinner presented by Chef Morris Salerno and his staff at Bistecca.

bistecca-highlandvillage-tx-restaurant-foodiefriday-jaymarks-1

Their romantic gourmet meal offerings included a Lobster Cappuccino, Salmon and Scallops, Sea Bass, an Eighteen-Ounce Ribeye and a special Sweetheart Dessert.

The Lobster Cappuccino was exactly what it sounds like – a delightful cup of a light lobster bisque that was exploding with flavor.

Stacy and I both ordered our go-to Bistecca Salad, which never EVER disappoints and comes topped with pears, Gorgonzola crumbles, grapes, baby tomatoes, walnuts and bacon.

For our entrees, Stacy ordered the Alaskan Crab with Prime Strip which came served with a pan sauce of brandy cream, roasted fingerling potatoes and prosciutto wrapped green beans. And I ordered the Tenderloin and Lobster which came served with toasted garlic mashed potatoes, griddled asparagus and baby carrots. My steak was cooked to absolute perfection and the lobster was so fresh and perfectly cooked as well.

And their “Special Sweetheart Dessert” was a chocolate mousse inside a pecan shell served on a plate decorated with berries, homemade cookie and white chocolate mousse. It was truly the most magnificent dessert I’ve ever had.

bistecca-highlandvillage-tx-restaurant-foodiefriday-jaymarks-valentinesdaymenu

I was so amazed by the attention we were paid by the staff (even though it was a busy evening for them). It made our Valentine’s Day truly special and you could tell everyone else in the room was thoroughly enjoying their meal and service as well.

In fact, we learned that on one side of us was a couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary and on the other side was a couple who has made Bistecca their Valentine’s dinner tradition for the past decade. And after our experience there, I believe Stacy and I will be joining Chef Morris to celebrate Valentine’s day for many more years to come!

Chef Morris was constantly working his way around the dining room, greeting customers and wishing them a Happy Valentine’s Day. I love that about Chef Morris – as successful and busy and talented as he is, he truly invests time in getting to know his customers and making each one of them feel special as they dine at his restaurant.

bistecca-highlandvillage-tx-restaurant-foodiefriday-jaymarks-morrissalerno

And speaking of Chef Morris being busy and successful – did you know he has a new cookbook out that you can purchase? It’s called More Morris’ Way and you can purchase it in the restaurant or on their website.

Keep an eye out for more special events they have coming up including their cooking class tomorrow (February 18th) from 10:00am-1:00pm and their Mardi Gras celebration on February 28th from 6:00-8:00pm.

*Bistecca is located at 2300 Highland Village Rd, Highland Village 75077.

Foodie Friday: Celebrating My Wife at Bistecca

How many of you have felt like in order to go someplace “fancy” enough to celebrate a special occasion, you have to leave our local Flower Mound – Highland Village – Lewisville area to find a suitable place? Wouldn’t you love if I told you there was a place right in our backyard run by a critically-acclaimed chef who’s part of a family that’s been an institution in the area for over 20 years!

photo-2191

Well, that’s exactly what Bistecca in Highland Village is! Run by Chef Morris Salerno, who has won awards from the Texas Chef Association and is known throughout the community for giving back to local residents.

A year or so ago, Chef Salerno created Bistecca from his former restaurant The Grotto in order to create a fine-dining atmosphere for his customers where they could come to enjoy a special evening out or a formal business lunch.

When you walk into Bistecca, you’re instantly greeted by a beautiful and luxurious atmosphere and the smells of incredible food!

IMG_8529 IMG_8534

Since we were celebrating my wife’s birthday last week, I (scoring major Husband Points) took her to Bistecca for some incredible food.

And we went all out with a full four-course meal!

So, we started out with some Foie Gras which they serve pan seared with an apple chutney and the Shrimp Grotto which are four large shrimp marinated in Mogia, seared and served with gorgonzola butter and herbed bread crumbs.

IMG_8545

For our salad round, my wife ordered the Tuscan Salad topped with an apple ring, toasted walnuts and a Sundried Tomato Vinaigrette. And I ordered the Caprese made with vintage heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and topped with extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil.

IMG_8549 IMG_8547

Up next we ordered the Beef and Crab (medallions topped with Alaskan crab) and a New York Strip served with a potato wedge and baby vegetables. And yes, by this point we were definitely getting full and had already boxed up lots of food as leftovers… but don’t think that stopped us from ordering dessert! It was my wife’s birthday after all!

IMG_8571 IMG_8564

They brought her out a very festive homemade cheesecake make with white chocolate and I ordered their classic Chocolate Souffle drizzled with a chocolate sauce.

IMG_8594 IMG_8610

Sorry, my mouth is watering again just writing about it. Next time you have something special to celebrate or want to win someone over, I highly recommend you head out to Bistecca and dine with Chef Morris and his staff.

He’s always walking around the restaurant greeting people and he even gifted my wife with a copy of his cookbook which she was very excited about!

There’s a reason this restaurant has been an institution in the community for over 20 years and it’s because of their great customer service, their incredible food and Chef Morris’s ambition and passion for cooking.

Go enjoy the beautiful sunshine tomorrow, Foodies! And have a great weekend!
