Foodie Friday: Local Restaurants Featured in DFW’s 20th Annual Restaurant Week

It’s one of my favorite weeks of the year! Monday marks the official beginning of DFW’s 20th Annual Restaurant Week. The 3-week event benefits the North Texas Food Bank and Lena Pope Home. Last year they were able to raise $711,000!

You can make all of your reservations on OpenTable. And you can make reservations at as many restaurants as you think you can visit during those 3 weeks! Just be sure to check which dates each restaurant is participating.

You’ll enjoy special two- or three-course, prixe-fixe meals at each restaurant and the cost is $20 for lunch and $39 or $49 for dinner.

And the most exciting part is that we have several Foodie Friday restaurants who are participating in this year’s event! Check out the local restaurants who are participating below.

Bistecca – An Italian Steakhouse

You can join Chef Morris Salerno for a truly special dining experience. They’ll be serving an option Calloway course for an additional $5, two salmon dish options for the first course, either Black Drum or a Akaushi beef brisket for the main entree, and either strawberry pie or chocolate mousse for dessert.

Bistecca is participating during the Preview Weekend (this weekend!) as well as all next week (August 7-13). The cost for the three-course dinner is $49 or $69 with their recommended wines. Make your reservations here!

Carvao Prime Brazilian Steakhouse

Or you can check out Carvao in Lakeside DFW. They have a fantastic salad bar with 60+ items to choose from. But the best part is enjoying their 16 cuts of meat served tableside.

Carvao also has a fantastic wine list and bar offering drinks for before, during and after your meal.

They are offering a $49 dinner and are participating from August 7-13. Make your reservations here!

Prime Farm to Table

Flower Mound’s Contemporary American restaurant, Prime Farm to Table, offers customers truly unique dining experiences. Chef Chris Flahaven is constantly coming up with special dishes to serve his customers to allow them to try things they never have before.

Prime Farm to Table is serving dishes on their prixe-fixe menu like Chilled Melon Soup, Grilled Spanish Octopus, Ricotta Gnocchi, 24 Hour Short Ribs, Olive Oil Cake and Chocolate Terrine.

They are participating from August 7-20 and their 3-course meal will be $39 per person or $55 per person with paired wines. Make your reservation here!

Yellow Rose Steak and Chop House

You can also check out another one of Flower Mound’s steak houses, Yellow Rose Steak and Chop House, in Parker Square.

Yellow Rose will be serving dishes like a Citrus Summer Salad, Char Grilled Salmon and Shrimp, 10 oz Prime Rib, and Bread Pudding.

They are participating all three weeks of the event (August 7-26) and are offering both special lunch and dinner menus. Make your reservation here!

Foodie Friday: Expand Your Eating Horizons at Prime Farm to Table

If you’re looking for a local restaurant that will get you out of your mundane eating routine, we’d absolutely suggest you visit Flower Mound’s Prime Farm to Table where you can enjoy the creative menu thought up by Chef and Owner Chris Flahaven.

Every time I go to Prime Farm to Table, Chef Chris always introduces me to a new food – whether it’s Onset Massachusetts Oysters or Blue Marlin.

Chef Chris grew up on the East Coast, so he loves introducing his customers to foods (especially sea foods) they’ve probably never encountered before. And he prepares all of it masterfully.

And each time you visit Prime Farm to Table, Chef Chris and his staff have some new incredible dish to introduce you to, as he’s always innovating based on whatever fresh ingredients he currently has in his kitchen. I love that he’s always creating and always changing. It makes being a regular customer all that more fun!

Because of his creativity, Chef Chris and his staff are also well-equipped to handle any dietary restrictions or food allergies that you may have. Which I know makes this a great restaurant option for many of you out there.

No matter the time of year, Chef Chris says his best-sellers are always his unique fish selections and his rib-eye steak.

Here’s some of the items on Chef Chris’s latest menu that I’ve really enjoyed as I’ve visited in the last month or so. These are some of his menu staples and are all made with locally-sourced ingredients to provide customers with the best and freshest dining experience.

We started out with their Local Cheese Board which comes served with apple and blackberry chutney as well as the Roasted Black Figs stuffed with Gorgonzola.

primefarmtotable-flowermound-highlandvillage-tx-restaurant-chrisflahaven-foodiefriday-jaymarks-jaymarksrealestate-5

I love their Local Green Salad which consists of roasted beets, cucumber, Marcona almonds, feta cheese & a lime-mint dressing. I love a salad that has beets in it and the roast on these beets really brought out the flavor and made them extremely tender.

primefarmtotable-flowermound-highlandvillage-tx-restaurant-chrisflahaven-foodiefriday-jaymarks-jaymarksrealestate-2

And one of their most popular current menu items is their Grilled Dry Aged Duroc Long Bone Pork Chop – which was delicious! I definitely understand why it’s one of their most popular dishes.

You all know if there’s a Creme Brulee on the menu, I always have to end my meal with it, and I love finishing my meal at Prime Farm to Table with their French Vanilla-Cardamom Creme Brulee. It has the perfect sugary crust and creamy center with incredible flavors from the vanilla and cardamom.

Any time I step food in Prime Farm to Table, I always experience incredible service and outstanding food. I love that Chef Chris is always stretching me out of my comfort zone but has some traditional favorites I can rely on as well. It’s like one big happy family at Prime Farm to Table and I’m so happy to have them right here in our community.

And I know that there are many of you out there who are also already big fans of Prime Farm to Table because every time I visit them, I run into at least a few people I know. Which I guess means we all have fantastic taste!

In fact, the last time I was there a couple of weeks ago, I ran into some of our clients we sold a home to earlier this year which was a fun surprise!

Make it a point to enjoy a meal at Prime Farm to Table in the next week – and maybe even find ways to expand your eating horizons a little bit! Chef Chris and his staff will not lead you astray, I promise!

Foodie Friday: Starting the New Year Off Right at Prime Farm to Table

What better way to kick off 2016 than by having a Foodie Friday lunch at one of Flower Mound’s most popular locally-owned restaurants, Prime Farm to Table? There’s actually no better way if we’re being honest, and I’m so excited to tell you about the meal that we had this week!

dsc_1161

I’m extremely proud of myself because during lunch I allowed Chef Chris Flahaven to introduce me to some new foods including Onset MA Oysters and Tempura Brussel Sprouts! I’ve tried oysters before on both coasts, and I’m dead serious when I tell you that these were by far the greatest oysters I’ve ever had! And I am not a fan of brussel sprouts, but I actually really loved Chris’s which are tempura-fried and served with sesame sea salt, lemon, sriracha and sweet soy.

For our entrees we ordered the Cobb Salad (substituting the chicken with salmon) which consists of local greens, avocado, aged cheddar, blue cheese, bacon, hard boiled farm egg, apples and a cider vinaigrette.

IMG_3714

And we also indulged ourselves in one of their most popular selections – the Grilled Flat Iron Steak – served with potato gratin, steamed vegetables and a mushroom cream sauce.

IMG_3708

I love Chef Chris’s innovation and the fact that every day he serves a custom menu based on the ingredients he has to work with. And because of his creativity, he and his kitchen staff are also able to easily make accommodations based on any dietary needs. Trying out Whole 30? No problem. Need something gluten-free? Also not a problem. Whatever you need, Chef Chris and his staff are willing to prepare.

dsc_1195

When I asked him what some of his best-sellers are, he commented that their devoted customers seem to always like his unique fish selections, his dry aged beef and the ribeye steak.

As Prime Farm to Table has been open for business over the past year, they’ve also successfully built up their catering business. They don’t have a set catering menu, but rather work with each catering client to discover their individual needs and likes for their private event.

Chef Chris even told me about a private dinner he catered at a customer’s home where he actually used the customer’s personal grill to prepare dinner and even gave him a few pointers of how to utilize it better in his own cooking! Dinner and a cooking class!

Now, I know it’s only January 8, but it’s never too early to start thinking about what your Valentine’s Day plans are going to be. And Prime Farm to Table would love to be the spot where you and your sweetheart can spend a meal together that day. They’re currently taking reservations for a special Sunday brunch and dinner this Valentine’s Day with brunch being served from 10:00am-3:00pm and dinner being served from 5:00pm-10:00pm.

I’m so grateful Chef Chris and his wife chose to open Prime Farm to Table here in Flower Mound, and love the fresh and unique approach they bring to food. They take great pride in incorporating fresh and local ingredients into their dishes. And over the last year, they’ve brought on a dozen new farms to source their ingredients from – including some right here in Argyle!

We wish them an abundance of continued success and encourage you to quit procrastinating and get back to the basics at Prime Farm to Table!

The Table

The Story: Flower Mound’s newest restaurant, The Table opened its doors on October 20, and has been thrilling local residents with its delicious menu ever since. The dream of brothers Bruce and Daniel Wills, The Table was finally brought to fruition after they partnered with Chef Ray Skradzinski and fellow Flower Mound resident, Ty Welborne.

Both Bruce and Chef Skradzinski come to Flower Mound after spending several years working at Wolfgang Puck restaurants around the country. Because of that experience and training, they have been able to bring a deliciously refined menu and beautiful atmosphere to Flower Mound residents.

The Table is a place to come enjoy great food and meet new friends or enjoy spending time with old ones.

Jay’s Recommendations: There are some definite “must-try” menu items at the Table to include the Crispy Arancini, their house-made schnitzel and pierogies, and the Bone-In Rib Eye “Steak Fritz.”

Carvao Prime Brazilian Steak House

The Story: Local resident and Brazilian native, Paulo Novaes, knew he wanted to introduce the people of Flower Mound to his heritage. So, after spending the last 40 years perfecting his own version of Churrasco-style recipes, Novaes felt the time had come to finally realize his dream and open his own Brazilian steak house right here in Flower Mound.

He is surrounded by staff that has a wealth of experience working at Brazilian steak houses, including a chef with 30 years of experience alone!

They are also the only Brazilian steak house in Denton County to prepare their food using a charcoal grill, giving their food a unique and delicious taste. “Carvao” actually means “charcoal” in Portuguese, so it’s clearly something Paulo and his staff take pride in.

Jay’s Recommendations: The lobster bisque served at the salad bar is absolutely delicious and is the perfect cure for cold, winter days. I’m not sure I can pick a favorite from their lineup of 18 cuts of meat, so you will just have to go and try them all!

The Story: If you’re the kind of person who likes getting “back to the basics” with your food – meaning you want to know exactly where your food comes from – Prime Farm to Table is the place for you. Owners Matt and Chris Flahaven opened their restaurant after noticing a real need in Flower Mound for a fresh approach to food.

Chef Chris runs the kitchen with his own unique flair – constantly rethinking new dishes that use only the freshest of ingredients. And he also likes to throw in some unique ingredients that Flower Mound Foodies may not have experienced before. In doing so, they ensure that every dining experience you have at Prime Farm to Table is different from the last.

Jay’s Recommendations: Their local cheese board is not only delicious but is also beautiful to look at; so that’s a definite must any time I visit here. For something hearty and delicious, I recommend their House Cherrywood Smoked Prime Rib which comes served with creamy local white grits.
