River Walk at Central Park

Jay Around Town: Additional River Walk Amenities Approved By Flower Mound P&Z

We just informed you a couple weeks ago about the approval for the River Walk at Central Park’s Amphitheater, and as of Monday, the Flower Mound Planning and Zoning Commission has approved a couple more fantastic amenities for the development.

Between the Amphitheater site and Restaurant Row, plans have been approved for a Farmers Market and splash pad, which will occupy a total 3.7 acres.

The Farmers Market area will include three separate buildings offering just over 6,450 square feet of indoor space. And the splash pad (which will be situated a level lower than the Farmers Market) will feature spray fountains.

All three of these projects are planned to open in the summer of 2018 along with restaurant row and the wedding chapel. Which means there will be a lot of construction happening at the River Walk over the next year!

We’ll be sure to update you on progress – exciting to see things really get moving at this highly-anticipated development.

Jay Around Town: Flower Mound Town Council Gives River Walk Amphitheater the Green Light

At this week’s Town Council meeting, the Flower Mound Council unanimously approved the site plan for River Walk’s amphitheater.

The amphitheater will be an open-air venue that will seat 2,800 audience members with 300 fixed seats and 2,500 lawn “seats.” But the venue will also be completely walled-in, offering noise-reduction and an indoor/outdoor experience.

The back of the amphitheater will have walkways where people can walk along the river and enjoy the water walls.

And also along the back of the amphitheater’s seating area will be a 16,685-square-foot building with office spaces for the River Walk Property Owner Association (POA), Flower Mound police, restrooms, and concession serving areas.

Construction on the project is expected to take around nine months, so hopefully by next fall they’ll be hosting some great events! Just in time for perfect weather to come our way.

Community Update: New Restaurants Announced for Flower Mound River Walk

I’m not sure I have come down from the excitement of learning about the latest 5 restaurants coming to Flower Mound at the River Walk at Central Park development! The Town of Flower Mound recently announced the development’s newest tenants and I am so excited to share the news with you today because I absolutely LOVE some of these places!

So, get a brief summary of each of the 5 new restaurants below. It’s a great day to be a Foodie in Flower Mound!

Dee Lincoln’s Steak Bar: Serving steakhouse fare and inventive burger recipes in an approachable and comfortable way. The menu includes a great selection of wine, core starters, three cuts of steak, a daily butchers cut, fresh catch of the day and a variety of gourmet burgers. You may also recognize Dee’s name as she is the co-founder of Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House and also opened up the Dee Lincoln’s Tasting Room & Bubble Bar in AT&T Stadium.

Tokyo-Joes-5

Tokyo Joe’s: Offering healthy Japanese food in a quick service environment. Unlike Chinese food, Japanese food is often grilled our steamed, making it the healthier alternative. You’ll only find the best ingredients in their dishes – all natural proteins, wild seafood, organic produce and LOTS of rice. Start out with some spring rolls, grab some of their made-to-order sushi or build your own bowl! This sounds like a great lunch spot to me!

Torchy’s Tacos: I love Torchy’s and was ecstatic to hear that they were opening a location here in Flower Mound! This place brings a unique twist to your normal taco, serving everything from breakfast tacos, to tacos with fried chicken, to their fried avocado taco. Plus I love going in at the start of each month to see what their monthly special is as well! And I can’t forget about their delicious queso!

Steel City Pops: I have visited the location off of Greenville Avenue in Dallas and fell in love with the charm and whimsy of this unique popsicle spot. Owner Jim Watkins and his wife, Amy, opened up this place in an effort to bring gourmet, all natural and healthy popsicles to more people! They’ve got something for everyone – whether you want something fruity like Lime, something creamy like a Chocolate with Peanut Butter or something different like a Pineapple Jalapeno. I kind of wish I had one right now actually….

assembly-line format

Blaze Pizza: They’ve got lots of new locations opening up in the next year or so which makes me think this place must be incredible! They serve healthful, artisanal ingredients on top of made-from-scratch dough – and it’s all according to how you want to create it! Create it on the assembly line and then watch as they quickly cook the pizza in their blazing hot oven for just 180 seconds! This place sounds awesome.

New Construction: Approved Amendments to River Walk Plans

At a recent Flower Mound Town Council meeting, the council officials approved updates to the plans for the River Walk at Central Park development, located between Morriss Road and FM 2499.

The original 2008 plans were proposed to be around 2 million square feet with about 630,000 square feet of retail/restaurant space, 1.08 million as office space and nearly 300,000 for medical office space. The plans also included 6- to 12-story buildings with up to 13 four-story parking garages and 1718 housing units.

The current plan now shows a reduced 270,000 square feet of retail; 207,000 square feet of office space; 283,000 square feet of medical office space and a 125-bed hotel (which was previously announced as a Marriott Courtyard). The River Walk will now include 358 apartments, 263 town homes, 97 villas and 225 senior living units. The total square footage of the project is now planned for 761,981 square feet.

Other changes include re-arranging streets to allow better traffic flow, as well as cosmetic changes such as roofing tiles and signage.

The River Walk promises to be a center of cultural and entertainment for residents of Flower Mound with its amenities like Flower Mound’s first hotel, an amphitheater, chapel, river-side restaurants, farmer’s market and lots of retail, medical and residential space.

Community Update: Flower Mound’s First Hotel Will Be….

Drumroll, please!

If you haven’t already heard the news, Ranier Medical and DePalma Hotels & Resorts announced this week that Flower Mound’s first hotel located at the River Walk will be a Marriott Courtyard!

courtyard-marriottThis is a great opportunity for Flower Mound as it becomes part of Marriott’s global network and brings Marriott’s top quality and excellent customer service to our community.

The select-service hotel should hopefully be open as of Spring 2016 and is anticipated to be a five-story hotel with approximately 145 guest rooms and suites as well as 6,000 square-feet of additional meeting, conference and event space. There will also be plenty of balconies to take in the beautiful views, a restaurant and bar, pool, exercise room and an outdoor seating area with multiple fire pits. And staff will work closely with the River Walk Amphitheater and Wedding Chapel facilities to make be involved in meetings, events, etc.

This is going to be such a great opportunity for Flower Mound – bringing new jobs to our community and drawing attention from businesses looking for lodging and event locations. We can’t wait to see what else the River Walk brings!
